The Movie That Changed My Life -

From a very young age I had three passions in life, writing, talking and fashion and to me nothing else mattered. Three topics that overlapped so many times throughout my life I couldn't begin to explain but to this day at twenty one years of age there's one movie that inspires me like no other and that's 'The Devil Wears Prada'.
Growing up fashion was my escape similar to the way writing is for me today, no matter what was going on in my life I'd always have my design notebooks by my side and a packet of colouring pencils just in case.
I only watched fashion shows from Vivienne Westood to John Galliano, obsessed with the likes of project runway and A Listers Unzipped, as for Ben De Lisi... well De Lisi was my hero. I knew names of people twelve year old's shouldn't have been able to pronounce let alone know each of their collections inside out but for me fashion was my life and I loved it.

Like I mentioned above I admired Ben De Lisi growing up and I actually reached out to him at the age of 11 sending him an email off the family account and believe it or not he responded, I couldn't believe it. I remember asking Ben how he first got interested in fashion and he replied telling me it was when he wanted a pair of jeans but couldn't afford them so he made them himself and he never looked back. An email I received over 10 years ago and I still remember it word for word. Another fashion idol of mine was Irish stylist Courtney Smith, a lady who inspires me day in and day out and is doing phenomenal things in the fashion world today, she was what really inspired me to consider a career in fashion and told me that I can incorporate fashion and writing something I never even considered.
One thing I hated when I was younger was watching movies, I didn't have it in me to sit there quite for two hours but one movie that I could watch again and again and never get sick of it was The Devil Wears Prada.
If you haven't seen this Iconic film then firstly you need too but it's the story of Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) who is the Editor -in - Chief of Vogue magazine and her new assistant Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) who has little to no knowledge about fashion but is embarking on a journalism career and knows if she can spend 12 months working at Vogue then she can have pretty any journalistic career she wants. As the story unfolds you see how fashion changes Andrea's life be it for the better or worst but you'll have to watch it yourself to decide.
For me as a child interested in journalism and fashion I was obviously going to be attached to this movie and after watching it again last week for the first time in a while it gave me goose bumps and reminded me exactly why I first wanted a career in the fashion industry.
In the movie Andrea had my dream job (and boyfriend but that's another story) she worked for the Queen Miranda and day in and day out there she learned the history/ story of fashion and it wasn't before long she was hooked on fashion too, she never gave up on any job Miranda threw at her even though it backfired on her at the end the movie, for me showcases how passion and power can genuinely make or break a person depending on how you handle it and of course how important fashion is.

I understand that if you're not interested in fashion then this post is a heap of bogus to you but for me fashion meant everything to me. With so much going on in my life as a child the one thing I could always depend on was fashion, whether it was to take my mind of things by designing dresses or knowing that with each season was a new collection things were always going to get better and new things were to come. Fashion was what kept me going and is and always will be one of my life's biggest passions whether people know it or not.

2 For 1 Movie Review - Lights Out And The Young Offenders

I can be such a freak ask me if I want to sit down and watch a movie it's emmmm, I'll see but ask me if I want to go cinema??? What's on?? Who cares, I'm in!! I love going to the cinema it's one of my favorite hobbies and this week I'm going to be doing my movie review a little differently becuase I'm giving you 2  brand new movie releases in the one post... this was a slow week.
Both films are completely different, from the horror 'Lights out' to the Irish comedy 'The young offenders' I have the inside scoop just for you and right in time for the weekend.

I'll start this post with the first film I went to see and it was the horror movie..
Lights Out
When I see a horror movie in the cinema around Sept / October I'm there and it's not becuase I love horrors or anything it's that I'm immediately in Halloween spirit and I have no choice but to go but when it comes to this film, lets just say I'll never watch it again.
I'm usually okay when it comes to horror movies, I can watch exorcisms and ouija based films forever but there was something about this movie that just freaked me out for days on end, I couldn't even sleep that night that's how bad I was.
The story is a little weird, actually it's very weird but what makes it so interesting is it plays off all of our fears making us relate to the fear of the characters and following such a dysfunctional family come together to fight off the most darkest entity ever.

When Rebecca (played by Teresa Palmer..which I'll get to in a minute) leaves home she thought her childhood fears would be left behind along with her very strange mother but when her little brother Martin comes to her experiencing the same things Rebecca went through when the lights went off she steps in to find out the real story and that's when the truth of Diana comes out.
Diana, without giving too much away is the evil of all evil she's what we all fear and literally she is the scariest character I've ever come across in a movie.
Back to Teresa Palmer, I had never came across Teresa before and she is such an amazing actress I was so impressed, she was honestly inspiring and made you want to really get behind Rebecca and route for the whole family. I also became obsessed with her grungy, laid back style literally I'm not obsessed the whole way through the film I was in awe of her hair and make up and of course her other half in the movie... Holy Days!!
Well, it wouldn't be a movie without a hunk would it?!
Overall I thought this film was amazing if you want a scare for Halloween then this is the one, but that being said it scared me enough to only watch it once.

The Young Offenders
At the completely other end of the scale it's only been released couple of days ago and it's already selling out around the country on Tuesday night I headed to IMC to see The Young Offenders and I literally am not joking when I say I almost wet myself, it's genius!!
The minute I saw the trailer for this movie I knew I had to go and see it, the storyline is just comical. It's based upon the cocaine siege that happened in Cork that everyone in the country had heard about so to firstly get a story out of that and make it as funny as they did is genius.
Two young fellas from north Cork Jock and Conor steal bicycles and ride off on an adventure to find and steal a bail of cocaine worth a few million from a disabled drug dealer with a nail gun and that's the story. Do they find it? Do they steal it? Does the drug dealer shoot them with a nail?? ..all things you'll have to find out watching the film but if you want a little giggle then it's the perfect film for you.
I'm also genuinely so impressed that it's an Irish made film with amazingly talented actors to two lads really out do themselves, I'd really recommend going and having a look.
And there you have it two of the newest releases of the moment, whether you want to scare yourself silly or laugh like a, well laugh like a mad person these are the two movies for you.

Also, don't forget to download your 3 plus app where you can get 2 cinema tickets for €10!! It's brilliant for the discounts and shur why not make the most of it?? I adore this app and you can use your vouchers in The Odeon or IMC...Just a little helpful tip for you ;)

Movie Review - Bad Moms (2016)

If there's one thing I love it's gathering the troops and heading to the cinema with a large blue slush puppy to see the newest release, I've seen some of the greatest films in the cinema from 'The Martian' to 'Sisters' but last week I went to see the newest flick 'Bad Moms' and I left that cinema speechless, and believe me when I say that does not happen often haha.
First of all there's just something about Mila Kunis (who plays the lead in this film) every time I watch her in movies I get the desire to become an actress I don't know what it is about her but she's such an amazing actress and the minute I see her name attached to a movie I just know it's going to be unreal and 'Bad moms' has been without a doubt her best film.
Check out the trailer below....

This film is all about (big shock) motherhood and follows the story of three mothers in particular who are extremely different to each other but all on the same path and struggling with parenting.
Amy (played by Kunis) seems to have the perfect life, an amazing career, two perfect kids, an amazing home and a gorgeous husband, believe me when I say GORGEOUS!! but deep down she's stressed, overworked, falling to pieces and oh yes, her beautiful husband is in fact cheating on her. Amy joins forces with two other distressed mothers to quit being 'amazing moms' and go on a long overdue run of freedom, fun and putting themselves first and it is hilarious.
Kathryn Hahn is one of the mothers followed in the story and she outdoes herself, she is comical I honestly never laughed at a character so much in all my life, if anything go and just laugh at her.

There was something about this film that made me really think about motherhood and the connection mothers have with their children, I even cried on the way home I kid you not. Now that I've turned 21 I now know I've about a ten year window until I have my own little brats running wild and it got me. Will I have children? What will they be like? Can I ever love them as much as I love Mursher? It made me think so much and it hit home.
A perfect film for females in particular, motherhood is such a special thing and if anything this film will make you come home and call your own mother and tell her how much you love her.
I give this film 5 stars you need to check it out.

'Sisters' - Movie Review

From the minute I saw the trailer for 'Sisters' I knew it was a movie I had to see, even though I don't have my own sister my best friends are like my sisters so I could literally relate to every part of the trailer and it looked hilarious.
On our last night of college before our Christmas break myself and my two housemates decided we would have a girls night dinner, cinema and then a girlie movie night and we decided to head off to see 'Sisters' best decision we ever made....

The movie stars Amy Poehler and QUEEN Tina Fey (from Mean Girls) so straight away I knew it would be comedy gold, there's never been a film (except for The Martian and The Wolf Of Wall Street) where I saw a trailer and enjoyed the movie every bit as much as I expected but with this movie I did.
The film is about two sisters Kate (Tina) and Maura (Amy) who have to return to their family home to clean out their bedroom, they spend their night routing through their rooms when they decide to have one last party and go out in style allowing Maura to have her night in the house.
The party escalates pretty quickly and as the movie goes on the funnier it gets with a dance routine that I seriously need to learn and you know what else? John Cena is in it, yep JOHN CENA <3

Trust me when I say this is a film you need to go see, if there's one thing you need to do this month it's gather the girls and head to the cinema.. you wont regret it, not one tine tiny bit!!

Movie Review - The Lady In The Van

From the minute I saw the trailer for this movie I knew it was something I was going to see, I didn't care if I had to go alone this was a film I was going to go see and last weekend I finally got the chance to go and although this breaks my heart to say I'm slightly disappointed.
I don't know if it's one of those things that I just built up too much and there was no way it could possibly live up to my expectations but I found the trailer so much more funny than the actual film which is so sad.

The storyline itself though is brilliant, it's mostly based on a true story which makes it that little bit better. The story is about Ms Sheppard (Maggie Smith -who is legit my Icon) and how she lives in her van (on the run). She goes from place to place in her little mustard coloured van and he rude, heartless attitude just made me fall in love with Ms Sheppard (perhaps I see some of myself in her.... awks :/ )  but Smith portrays Ms Sheppard so so good. She oddly finds friendship with her 'neighbor' Alan and the two really do bring a smile to your face, oh and a heap of tears -you've been warned (but keep in mind I'm emotionally unstable).
The story is quite heartbreaking when you think about it as a whole, but it shows the ageing process well too.  Slightly too well if you ask me bringing up some odd emotions, and I'm not kidding!! The following morning I began to realise I only have a ten year window where I can have a mini cooper because turn 30 I'll be looking for a reliable mammy car... I know, what's that to be thinking about?!!
Overall I did really enjoy the film and when trust me when I say the funny parts were GENIUS!!! (I especially love that one there when she rolls down the hill) but I feel like the highlights of the movie are in the trailer and really didn't live up to my expectations at all.

Would I recommend you go to the cinema to see it? Well, I wouldn't not tell you to go but at the same time I can't say you need to run to the nearest Odeon or Omniplex or wherever like it's not a film you'd need to see before you die if you ask me but a decent flick overall -If you want to see what the film is all about and see every funny part then you can watch the trailer here:
Let me know if you go and what you think :)

Movie Review - 'The Visit'

Going to the cinema with the girls on the weekend has become one of my most favourite things to do and oddly enough watching horror films has also become one of my favourite things to do, I know? WEIRDOOOO!!
The other week I went to the cinema with my friends to go see my first ever horror in the cinema... 'The Visit' and I decided that since it's the weekend I'd give you the low down and my honest review on the film and advise you whether or not to waste money and go see this film.

Although this film is a horror I found parts hilarious and it's all down to the ridiculously talented Ed Oxenbould who plays Tyler and who's only fourteen years of age but my God is he hilarious. Based on him alone I'd recommend you going to see this film.

The story is based around two children Rebecca (Olivia DeJonge) and Tyler (Ed Oxenbould) as they go to visit their grandparents whilst their mother goes on a cruise. The kids have neither met their grandparents so aspiring film maker Becca decides to document the visit as she tries to discover why her grandparents and mother don't talk anymore. Of course the grandparents live in an isolated farmhouse where there warned to never go near the basement, OR leave their room after 9:30. With the hunger getting to Rebecca one night she decides to venture downstairs for a cookie when the weirdness begins and the children notice some 'odd' behaviour amongst their grandparents (especially their grandmother). Rebecca is concerned for her grandmother's well being so asks her grandfather about it but is told she's just unwell which Rebecca accepts however Tyler.. nah that ship don't sink with him as he decides to take matters into his own hands and sets up a camera downstairs to see what their beloved grandmother is really up to.. and my God.
It's from here on out the story gets interesting and very, very scary. An extremely unexpected plot twist kicks in at the end and the last ten/fifteen minutes will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.
You can watch the trailer for yourself here:

So as a recap?
Do I recommend you go and see it? - YES!!!
How many stars would I give it out of 5? - 4!!
Would I see it again? - To be honest, no. Once you see it once and discover the plot twist there really isn't any need to see it again, however I do recommend you go and see it, I promise you it's extremely weird, kinda scary and oh so good!! - Let me know if you do decide to go check it out.

The Truth Behind Hocus Pocus 2

‘The witch is back, and now there’s hell to pay’

SISTAHS! In 1993 something very special happened to our screens and that was the production of the classic film Hocus Pocus! Almost 22 years later it’s still one of my all time favourite films which is why I jumped with joy when I heard they were in the process of making a sequel to the movie. Could it be? could Disney be making my dreams come true? I couldn’t deal with not knowing so I went about doing research to find out if this was really going to happen, I mean it has too…

So here’s the full, truthful story, during the year Bette Midler (who plays the lead witch Winnie Sanderson) was asked if she would be interested in making a sequel to the extremely successful film and guess what, SHE’S IN… however, Disney… not so much!!
‘’You have to go send in your cards to the Walt Disney Company. The ball is in their court’
However Midler did go onto say that herself, and the rest of the cast do agree to make the movie… and from what I can make of it, it seems like she really wants this to happen.
‘’Inundate the Disney company, because I have canvassed the girls and they are willing to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ then ask the Walt Disney Company.’
So from here it seemed like my dreams had been crushed, the Sanderson sisters were in but Disney were not, but then my search deepened when I discovered Tina Fey was on board.. I know, I know this just gets better and better.
Tina picked up on Bette’s comments and decided she would produce a remake of the film. This was it, it was happening, I was about to scream with delight when I realised it was a rumour and Fey wasn't on board.
Yep, you heard me she’s not on board with the sequel so as it stands there’s no plan for a ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ - I know, sorry to break your heart but, get your pens out we’re writing to Disney!!

Christmas With The Kranks

When it comes to the Christmas season, I really do tend to challenge my inner Mr.Krank but my Christmas would not be complete unless I watch the movie 'Christmas with the Kranks' at least 72,000 times over the month of December and ball my eyes out at the ending, and that's just how it is!!
For anyone out there who hasn't seen my all-time favourite film I'll give you the general jist, but you have to promise me you'll watch it and just appreciate the magic of it.

It starts off with this normal family, played by Tim Allen, and Jamie Lee Curtis and when their only child Blair decided to join the peace core their Christmas is about to change forever.
Nora (Jamie Lee Curtis) thinks she's going to have a normal Christmas, with hickory honey ham, Christmas Eve party and Frosty up on the roof but Luther decides that enough is enough and this year they should try something different and that is to ... SKIP CHRISTMAS!!!  .

After doing out the family budget he realises that last year the family spent so much money on Christmas, so much that they could have went on 10 day cruise around the Caribbean Islands. It takes Nora a while to agree but eventually gives in and the fun begins.
Christmas on the street is a big deal, every house buys a Christmas tree from the scouts, they buy a calendar from the cops and every house puts up a seven foot frosty onto the roof so when the Kranks back out there's price to pay!!

I won't ruin the story but I will say that I think EVERYONE should be forced to watch this film, yes it may be about a grouchy aul man, who doesn't think much of Christmas or tradition but with a sudden twist to the film it immediately makes you realise the true meaning of not just Christmas but life in general, but in a sneaky, fun and yet beautiful way, and trust me I don't just get deep and meaningful for the craic I really mean this.
I recommend watching this film, and if you don't cry when Luther hands over them tickets then your heart is like a rock..
and keep a eye out for my favourite person in the film..
SPIKE!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
